For new drivers

I have just switched all my Internet and phone over to sky so I get the one bill at home instead of 3 bills. While I was chatting to the lady about the phone service they supply she told me all landline calls are free 24/7 plus you can ring landline numbers in 20 countries. She told me because the mobile numbers on American and Canadian phones are they same as landline numbers my wife can ring my American and Canadian mobiles for just 7p connection and we can chat for an hour free (No Mick I don't want that solo phone back I will buy another). I have now got to find a couple of phones which don't charge you for incoming calls so if any one can let me know of a pay as you go mobile that doesn't charge for incoming calls for America and Canada I would be very grateful.

Hi Mike hope you are enjoying being back in England. In regards to comment you left on my blog its probably the same small minded insecure sad waster of a driver that has been spreading rumors about me you & others..the trouble is all the drivers go back to the sandman and start bitching & moaning! we never stopped at the sandman before we got the house we always went down to the lodge at two dollars more a night you have a better hotel, food & no-one to bother you ! i would like to know the name of said driver but that wouldn't be a good idea as i lose my temper very easily with said people !.

Speak soon Jim

P.s if you have Facebook feel free to add me.

Hi Jim I will tell you the drivers name as soon as I get back all the time I have stayed at the sandman I have never heard anyone say anything about you and Kerry other wise I would of stuck up for you both and then told you. I have been in transport most of my life my dad was a truck driver I spent most of my school holidays with him they had drivers bitching about drivers then and nothing has changed in the last 40 years mate I am like you I lose my temper very quick if its going to come to blows I will lose my job at H&R and be kicked out of Canada so I won't smack him once I will make a bloody good job of it but at the end of the day there not worth it. I am not going to let this guy upset me because thats all the gutless twat wants and its not worth losing a good job over. Can't add you to facebook because not got it anymore got to many e-mails. take care the pair of you see you soon mike

Hi Mike,

We have been here since Wed 21st Jan. Hubby has a job with H & R. We are staying at the lodge at the mo, while he is training. We are looking to get a "cell", any ideas? or advice on anything else would be greatly appreciated- we are planning to live in the truck.

Regards

Stephen & Hayleigh

Hi Steve & Hayleigh Glad you are in the lodge its a much better hotel. As for which is the best cell I really can't help on that one I am still trying to sort one out for myself I have a net10 phone I use in America to ring England it costs 15 cents a minute to ring the UK. Get streets and trips for your laptop and a Garmin sat nav both of these will help you out a lot. The 12volt under blanket you buy in the truck stops are good as well but do make sure you buy the under blanket and not the $25 over blanket then go to Wal-mart and buy a mattress pad the big thick one costs $15 and its well worth it. anything else just ask mike

Hi Mike, we went to the Sandman cos we were fed up of the view at the Lodge, but we did prefer the Lodge.
Thanks for giving me the SOLO phone, but yes, its crap.

Hi Mike, I am interested in the stuff you advise to get to best deal with the extreme cold. You mention an under blanket you can buy in a truckstop. What exactly is this ? like a heated blanket ? could you put a picture up ? How about buying an actual radiator/heater for truck. Would this work all night with engine off ? Back to the wind !

Hi Graham the under blanket you buy from the truck stop is a 12volt blanket you pin to your mattress you can put a sheet over the top but when you get into bed you can feel the blanket through the sheet but if you go to Wal-Mart you can buy a mattress pad the more you pay the thicker the pad I brought the thickest one they sell and you can't feel the pad under it. In the corner of the truck where your pillows go there is a 12 volt socket,I have plugged mine in there and the control is on the other side of my pillow I switch it on before I go and have my shower and something to eat and when I get back its warmed my bed up very nice. Just go in a truck stop and ask them do they sell under blankets if not go to another truck stop it costs about $65 . DO NOT BUY AN OVER BLANKET THEY ARE CRAP. This blanket should come with a warning it warms your bed up so well when its time to get up you don't want to get out of your warm bed lol.
